The Kazakhstan Majilis speaker Nurlan Nigmatulin met with Ambassador of Armenia to Kazakhstan Vassiliy Kazaryan, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of Majilis (the lower chamber of the Parliament). "During the meeting the parties stressed consistency and progress in interaction between Kazakhstan and Armenia on a wide range of issues. The speakers agreed that mutual cooperation and cooperation in the framework of international and regional organizations like CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), CSTO (Collective Security Treaty Organization), UN (United Nations) was very important for both countries," the press-service writes. Nurlan Nigmatulin mentioned the international projects implemented under Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev's initiative. They include the Global Anti-Crisis Conference that President Nazarbayev suggested to hold during the 6th Astana Economic Forum. According to the press-service, the parties also discussed inter-parliament cooperation between the countries that, according to the speakers, was an important component of the countries' partnership. "The parties discussed ways for expansion of relations between the higher legislative bodies of Kazakhstan and Armenia, noting that experience exchange in different areas should be the main aspects of the joint work. The subject first of all covers establishment of contacts between factions and commissions. Kazakhstan Majilis has a group for cooperation with Armenia. It is made of 24 deputies. Close cooperation of the parliamentarians was also established as part of the CIS and CSTO Inter-Parliament Assemblies," the message states. Nurlan Nigmatulin and Vassiliy Kazaryan expressed confidence that further enhancement of Kazakhstan-Armenian relations, including those between parliamentarians of the two countries, will take place.
