Tengrinews.kz - A resident of the Nauryzbay district of Almaty contacted the akim (governor) of the city with a complaint about the bad smell that remains after garbage trucks.
According to her, residents are forced to endure the unpleasant smell throughout the warm period.
"From April to October, stinking liquid oozes from garbage trucks that arrive once a week to both apartment buildings and private ones. The situation worsens during the watermelon season, the stench is terrible. The stinking film left by the sewage truck has to be washed off for three days. In the courtyards of apartment buildings, no one does this, the stench is constant. The situation is aggravated by catering establishments that throw everything in the trash. Our population is ready to sort garbage. When will we have civilized sorting and removal of garbage?" a woman asked him at a meeting with the population of the Nauryzbay district.
Dossaev disagreed with the Almaty resident.
"I disagree with you once again. When you say ‘once a week’, I have never seen anything like this anywhere else. When you ask questions for the entire city and say that everything is so bad... We have shortcomings, but we have drawn up a joint plan for updating equipment for all garbage haulers (...). We have set conditions for new companies (for garbage removal - ed.) on what equipment they should have," the akim assured.
Erbolat Dossaev promised to rectify the situation, and the district akimat (local government administration) additionally reported that 70 new garbage trucks will be delivered in 2025.
"But in fact, I think we are not yet ready to separate garbage into bags every evening and take it out separately. But we have ideas to gradually bring people to this," Dossaev added.
Earlier, a resident of Almaty complained to Erbolat Dossaev about the lack of women in power.
