Tengrinews.kz – Minister of National Economy Nurlan Baibazarov addressed the question of whether food and goods prices in Kazakhstan will increase due to fluctuations in the dollar exchange rate.
The minister emphasized that combating inflation remains a top priority for the government and the National Bank.
"Of course, there are tools; we can influence the situation and prevent short-term spikes in the dollar from being exploited. I believe that in such a short time, it is difficult to quickly import goods and sell them at a different price. We see in real time that the process is under control on our side. Moreover, the exchange rate is already falling," Baibazarov said during a government briefing.
Reporters asked the minister if he could guarantee that prices would not rise due to the dollar's spike.
"There are response measures, and they primarily concern food products," replied the Minister of National Economy.
Recall that the Vice-Minister of National Economy addressed the risks of the devaluation of the tenge.
