Replacement of Secretary of State and regional Akims expected in Kazakhstan

Reshuffling is expected in Kazakhstan in the nearest time in relation to the coming parliamentary elections, KazTAG reports. According to the agency’s source in Astana, the reshuffling will cover the positions of the Secretary of State and regional Akims (Governors). “Names of the current Secretary of State Kanat Saudabayev, Akim of Kostanai oblast Sergei Kulagin, Akim of West Kazakhstan oblast Baktykozha Izmukhametov and Akim of Akmolinskaya oblast Sergei Dyachenko on the election list of Nur Otan party are not incidental. They will most probably become members of the lower chamber of the Parliament and head committees there,” the source told KazTAG. "As for Almaty Akim Akhmetzhan Yessimov, he will most likely remain the mayor of the country’s largest city. His name in the party list, as well as the other famous people, just strengthens the position of Nur Otan,” the source said. “I can say that replacement of the Secretary of State had to be done long time ago and there should have been a good reason for such replacement. This position currently requires a politician who would revive ideological work, establish a systematic approach to implementation of the state priorities in internal policy.”
