Tengrinews.kz – The Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the National Security Committee have introduced amendments to the joint order "On Certain Issues of the Export of Petroleum Products from the Territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan."
According to the document, Kazakhstan is imposing a six-month ban on the export of gasoline, diesel fuel, and certain types of petroleum products by road transport beyond the country’s borders, including to the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The export of gasoline, diesel fuel, and certain types of petroleum products by road transport is prohibited, except for lubricating oils, fuel in vehicle fuel tanks installed by the manufacturer, aviation fuel for research purposes, and certain petroleum products exported as humanitarian aid by government decision. The ban will be in effect from September 29, 2024, to March 29, 2025.
An exception is made for lubricating oils, as well as fuel transported in vehicle fuel tanks installed by the manufacturer. The export of aviation fuel for scientific research, qualification, and laboratory testing is also allowed with approval from the relevant authorities.
The ban is aimed at stabilizing the domestic petroleum products market and preventing a potential fuel shortage in the country, the Ministry of Energy reported.
The order came into effect on January 29, 2025.
