Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev met with CSTO (Collective Security Treaty Organization) Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the President’s official website. “Informal summit of heads of CSTO member-states was held in Astana in August. The high-level meeting was very efficient. The presidents agreed on serious and deep issues of the organization’s development. Today I have informed Kazakhstan President on the status of the agreements reached by the presidents in Astana. The issues and documents boosting development of the CSTO will be reviewed in Moscow. Chairmanship in the organization will be transferred to Kazakhstan. Traditionally Kazakhstan’s chairmanship is very creative and successful, that’s why we are confident that the next year will be notable for intensive activities of the CSTO and effective results,” Nikolai Bordyuzha said. Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that all the heads of CSTO member-states met at the informal CSTO summit in August, except for Uzbekistan President Islam Karimov. The meeting was held in Borovoye resort and covered withdrawal of the coalition forces from Afghanistan and the threat posed by extremist groups for Central Asian countries.
