Tengrinews.kz - Every employee in Kazakhstan is entitled to an annual paid vacation. The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection has explained how vacation pay is calculated in the country.
According to Talant Yermanov, head of the State Labor Inspectorate at the ministry, vacation days are calculated without counting public holidays. If a vacation period includes public holidays, those days are added to the main vacation but are not paid. When granting leave to an employee, the actual time worked is taken into consideration.
“Vacation pay is calculated as follows: the average daily earnings are multiplied by the number of working days of the vacation. Average daily earnings are the total amount of wages accrued over the year preceding the vacation, divided by the number of days actually worked by the employee. In accordance with the Labor Code, vacation pay is usually issued three days before the employee begins their annual leave. If the employee goes on leave outside of the approved schedule, then the vacation pay must be issued within three days from the start of the vacation,” Yermanov explained.
