Experts of Kazakhstan Scientific-Research Institute of Oncology and Radiology have named cancer one of the main reasons for infant mortality, KTK reports. Around 1,300 children are currently registered in Kazakhstan oncological hospitals. According to the doctors, many children with oncological diseases could have been saved, but Kazakhstan lacks sufficient diagnostics and does not have enough equipment for rehabilitation during and after the lengthy and complex cancer treatment. “We treat oncological children, but they get diagnosed with cancer at general treatment medical facilities, like first medical-sanitary aid clinics. And when the detection is late, it is more difficult for us to treat such patients and the treatment effect is not as good as we wish it was,” Director of the Institute Kuanysh Nurgaziyev said.
