Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev has sent a telegram of condolences to Chinese President Xi Jinping over the earthquake in Gansu, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Nazarbayev’s official website. “It was with deep sorrow that I took the tragic news about multiple victims of the devastating earthquake in Gansu province,” the telegram states. On behalf of himself and the people of Kazakhstan the President expressed condolences to the families of the victims and all the people of China. The twin earthquakes of 5.9 and 5.6 magnitude stroke central China on July 22 and claimed multiple lives. Initial investigations showed at least 5,785 houses collapsed and another 73,000 were severely damaged, Xinhua reported.
