Tengrinews.kz - Institutions in Ust-Kamenogorsk are switching to a new work schedule.
Starting March 20, a new work schedule will be introduced for government institutions and budget organizations in the regional center. This was announced by Deputy Akim of East Kazakhstan Region Darkhan Sapanov at a meeting in the city administration.
For most residents of Ust-Kamenogorsk, the workday will now begin at 8:00 AM and end at 5:30 PM, with a lunch break from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM.
The main advantage of this change is schedule flexibility, which has already proven effective in other districts of East Kazakhstan Region.

“The meeting was attended by representatives of city government institutions – about 300 people in total. Participants supported the innovation, noting that an earlier start to the workday would allow for more efficient time planning,” the regional communications service of East Kazakhstan Region reported.
Notably, Ust-Kamenogorsk is the last city in the region to adopt the updated work schedule. Before this, 10 districts of East Kazakhstan and the city of Ridder had already made the transition.
Local authorities believe this measure will improve working conditions, enhance convenience for residents, and make government agencies more organized.
As a reminder, on the night of February 29 to March 1, 2024, Kazakhstan switched to a single time zone.
Since January 5 of this year, 17 villages in the Katon-Karagai district of East Kazakhstan Region have switched to their own work schedule. On February 24, residents of the Markakol and Ulken Naryn districts followed suit, while on March 5, the Zaisan, Kurchum, Tarbagatai districts, and the Samar district made the transition. On March 12, the Altai and Ulan districts, as well as the city of Ridder, also adopted the new schedule.
In all these districts, the workday begins at 8:00 AM and lasts until 5:30 PM, with a lunch break from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM.
