Kazakhstan-Russia high-voltage line is about to collapse because of thieves, Tengrinews.kz reports citing public relations department of the corporate development division of KEGOC company. “On September 17 the company's experts discovered that wire anchors had been stolen from 27 supports in the section of L1104 line in Lebyazhinskiy region of Pavlodar oblast. Lack or improper attachment of the anchors that ensure steadiness of a 20-ton metal support could cause a collapse in case of a strong wind (the support’s height is 40 meters),” the company states. The threat of collapse of the supports on Kazakhstan-Russia interstate transit line is being eliminated by an emergency repair team of KEGOC. The company notes that this is not the first case of vandalism for the sake of collection (and sale) of metal scrap registered in Pavlodar oblast in 2012.
