Public facilities of Almaty and employees of the Emergency Situations Department continue cleaning up Medeu area. As of August 12, 6,050 fallen trees and 3,465 cubic meters of branches were cleaned up, Kazakhstan Emergency Situations Ministry’s press-service reports. 49 people and 9 vehicles are involved in elimination of the storm consequences. The trees in Medeu fell during a storm and hail on June 27 that damaged not only Medeu area, but Almaty as well. Roofs were ripped off the buildings, fallen trees blocked roads, smashed cars, including one with people inside and damaged several power stations causing blackouts.
