Tengrinews.kz - On March 6, residents of Astana received mass notifications on their phones labeled "Presidential Alert" and "National Alert."
"National Alert. Do not worry. This is a test of the alert system," the message read.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) stated that it did not initiate the technical test of this system.
"The MES is not involved in the technical work related to testing the MasAlert system. Additionally, we clarify that the MES does not control or manage the MasAlert platform and is not responsible for its maintenance, configuration, or testing," the ministry said in response to a Tengrinews.kz inquiry.
The MES urged citizens to remain calm and avoid panic.
"In case of an emergency, official alerts will be transmitted through MES channels and mobile network notifications," the ministry added.
Earlier, it was reported that sirens would sound in Astana and other regions of Kazakhstan on March 6.
