Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstani teenagers often fall victim to sexual crimes after communicating online, exchanging messages on social networks and messengers. This was reported by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Lepekha.
"Virtual dating remains another serious problem. Teenagers often become victims of sexual crimes after communicating online, exchanging messages on social networks and messengers," he said during a roundtable discussion in the Senate.
In this regard, the Deputy Minister considers it necessary to strengthen work on the formation of digital literacy in students, instilling a culture of safe behavior on the Internet.
Igor Lepekha emphasized that ensuring the safety of children on the Internet should become a priority task not only for law enforcement agencies but also for the education system, parents, and society as a whole.
As part of countering Internet threats, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has already identified more than 19 thousand resources with illegal content, including over 2 thousand with pornographic materials.
"The Ministry of Culture and Information has blocked more than 8000 such sites through the Cyber Surveillance system," the deputy minister added.
Law enforcement agencies are calling on parents to pay more attention to who their children communicate with and what they talk about online and to conduct educational work on Internet safety issues.
Earlier, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Sanzhar Adilov commented on the work of the security service at Almaty airport during the hostage taking.
