The number of policewomen will reach 30 percent in Kazakhstan by 2020. This development is a part of the state program for modernization of the law-enforcement system that is being prepared by the General Prosecutor’s office, Bnews.kz reports citing Deputy General Prosecutor Zhakyp Assanov. “We first plan to take this number to 15 percent by 2015, then to 20 percent by 2018 and to 30 percent by 2020. The numbers may seem fantastic, as there are around 3 thousand women among prosecutors now. But if there is a political will this will come to being. I think that men will squeeze up a little bit,” he said. According to Assanov, the law-enforcement system will benefit from the new regulation. The official agreed with the statement of Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev that women were more responsible and less corrupted.
