Kazakhstan’s foreign trade turnover in January – April 2011 grew 41% as compared to the like period of 2010, Novosti Kazakhstan quoted the Agency for Statistics. “Foreign trade turnover for the period made up $36.5 billion, with exports standing at $26.9 billion (47.3% up) and imports at $9.6 billion (26% up). Exports to the Customs Union member states made up $2 billion (65.8% up), with imports making up $4.2 billion (38.6% up). Major importers of Kazakhstan’s products for the period under review were Italy (15%), China (13.8%) and Russia (10.3%). Q1 2011 foreign trade turnover made up $25 billion, 33.2% as compared to the same period of 2010, the Agency reported earlier. Kazakhstan’s external trade turnover in 2010 grew by ¼ as compared to 2009, reaching $89 billion.
