Tengrinews.kz - Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Almassadam Satkaliyev and US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright held talks within the framework of the international energy conference CERAWeek 2025, according to the press service of the Ministry of Energy.
At the meeting, the parties discussed joint projects in the oil and gas industry, the development of the Strategic Energy Dialogue (SED), and cooperation in the field of "green" energy.
Particular attention was paid to projects at large fields - Kashagan, Tengiz, and Karachaganak. The Kazakh side expressed interest in attracting American investment and technology.
The ministers also discussed:
- reduction of greenhouse gas emissions;
- development of renewable energy sources;
- interaction in the field of civil nuclear energy;
- mining of critical materials.
Kazakhstan expressed interest in studying the American experience in the creation and operation of small modular reactors (SMR).
In addition, the parties discussed the diversification of routes for transporting Kazakh oil. Almassadam Satkaliyev noted the importance of developing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and expressed hope for US support in this matter.
"We highly value our cooperation and see great potential for its expansion, especially in the field of ‘green’ energy and new technologies," Satkaliyev emphasized.
