The launch of KazSat-2 telecommunications satellite from Baikonur has been postponed to June 9, 2011, as the satellite is not fully ready, Interfax – Kazakhstan reports. Instead, a Proton-M will be launched carrying Telstar 14R, a source in the space industry said. KazSat 2 is a Kazakh communication satellite, features 12 Ku-band transponders for fixed communications and 4 Ku-band transponders for TV-transmissions and is intended for telecast, fixed satellite communication and data transmission for Kazakhstan and Central Asia. It was to supplement the KazSat 1 satellite, but will now replace Kazsat 1 due to the complete loss of the first satellite.
