Astana Opera soloists to perform in Italy

Director of La Scala ballet company Makhar Vaziev has invited two soloists of Astana Opera Aygerim Beketayeva and Yerkin Rahmatollaev to perform in Italy, Tengrinews reports. Makhar Vaziev was impressed with the perfomance of his Kazakh collegues.

The two leading soloists of Astana Opera house will perfrom on the stage of La Scala theatre at two gala concerts on October 30-31 during the EXPO-2015 in Milan. They will dance a pas de deux from the third act of Swan Lake and a pas de deux from Sleeping Beauty.

Arrival of the La Scala ballet company to Kazakhstan was a truly historic event for ballet lovers in the Central Asian country and for Astana Opera theatre. 

The premier of Don Quixote performed by La Scala ballet company was a spectacular events with impressive ballet dancing, decorations, costumes and orchestra conducted by Italian Marcello Spaccarotella. Around 6000 people enjoyed Don Quixote from June 30 - July 4 in Kazakhstan and even Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev attended the premier.

Top managers of Astana Opera and La Scala signed a cooperation memorandum that will involve staging Giuseppe Verdi's Aida this fall together. They are also discussing a return visit of Astana Opera ballet company to La Scala. 

La Scala is a world-renowned opera house in Milan, Italy. The theatre was inaugurated on August 3,1778. Most of Italy's greatest operatic artists and many of the finest singers from around the world have appeared at La Scala during the past 200 years. Today, the theatre is still recognised as one of the leading opera and ballet theatres in the world.
