Three stations of Almaty subway have been presented to subway constructors of the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) countries, Tengrinews.kz reports. Participants of the international subway constructors' conference noted a high level of Almaty subway construction technologies. Chief engineer of Moscow subway Aleksandr Yershov was impressed with the new solutions used in construction of Almaty subway. He said that they will become the subject for studies. “We will be studying the technical solutions, sucg as no-current routes, bimetallic contact rail, new type of rolling stock, operating system and telemechanics. I think we will be adopting the experience of Kazakhstan subway constructors,” Yershov told the journalists. Managers of Baku and Tbilisi noted that the security system of all the stations meets highest standards. Seismic resistance is an important issue as well. “6-magnitude earthquake hit Tbilisi a few years ago and not a single crack was discovered in our subway. You have used the latest technologies and I can say that Almaty subway is by all means one of the leading subways in the CIS,” said the technical director of Tbilisi subway Levan Mekhriashvili. Head of Almatymetrostroy Murat Ukshebayev thanked his colleagues for visiting Almaty subway stations and invited them to take part in the official opening of the subway in December. All the major works have already been finished and only finishing works are left, he said. “There are no doubts that we will open the subway on schedule (by Kazakhstan's Independence Day),” Ukshebayev said. As per Ukshebayev, the cost of one subway trip will be the same as the cost of ticket in the above-ground public transport. Almaty subway purchased 28 Korean coaches, so seven trains of four coaches each are going to be cruising the subway. These state-of-the-art comfortable coaches cost the budget $86 million. International subway constructors' conference in Almaty was attended by representatives of Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Baku, Tbilisi, Kazan, Novosibirsk and Samara subways. Almaty subway has its own logo. It represents an half-oval symbolizing the tunnel with a red “M” under it, a yellow ornament and a dark-blue arrow symbolizing the underground transport.
