Bayan Kumiskali, girlfriend of Dias Kadyrbaeyv, has testified at the hearing of Azamat Tazhayakov’s case, Tengrinews reports citing Bloomberg.

Tazhayakov and Kadyrbaeyv, two Kazakhstani students are accused of obstructing justice in the Boston bombing case.

Kumiskali, a prosecution witness who was granted immunity by the prosecutors, said that she was outraged when on April 18, Kadyrbayev and Tazhayakov brought Tsarnayev’s backpack to their apartment. She added that the young men were aware that keeping such things at their house was dangerous because those things were material evidence.

Kadyrbayev’s girlfriend said that the young men suspected that Tsarnayev had something to do with the terrorist attack because they saw his photos on TV.

“If the person on TV is actually Dzhokhar, then whatever this is might be evidence. (…) I said I didn’t want it in the apartment and told them to get it out of the apartment,” Kumiskali recalled the conversation she had with her boyfriend.

According to FBI agents, the suspects threw away Tsarnayev’s backback into a garbage bin out in the street. A week later FBI found the evidence at a junkyard.

Bayan Kumiskali and Dias Kadyrbayev have known each other since the sixth grade.

Earlier, Kadyrbayev said that the statement he gave to the FBI agents was not voluntary. The Kazakhstani student will face the court on September 8. While hearings of Tazhayakov’s case started in the end of June.
