Ak Orda National Movement suggested to nominate Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev for Nobel Peace Prize, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the public union's address to the people of the world. “Semipalatinsk nuclear test site equals to hundreds of Hiroshimas and Nagasakis, thousands of lives of our country residents, ecological catastrophe of our motherland. A total of 459 nuclear explosions, including 113 in the atmosphere, were made at the territory of Semipalatinsk site. Today the site is silent. This is a big achievement of Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev, who was the first political leader to voluntary close Semipalatinsk test site and take our country off the list of nuclear countries. People of the world have to remember the words of our President: “Our generation bears a huge responsibility to the future generation.” In this relation the public union is suggesting to nominate Nursultan Nazarbayev for Nobel Peace Prize for his decision to close the Semipalatinsk site and for his nuclear disarmament initiatives,” the movement stated. Suggestion of Ak Orda was announced at one of the Japanese Alarm events held in Kazakhstan National Archive. August 4 Norwegian public association suggested to put forth Nursultan Nazarbayev for the Nobel Peace Prize.
