Wages of some of Kazakhstan teachers will double in 2012, Kazakhstan Minister of Education and Science Bakytzhan Zhumagulov told Tengrinews.kz. “We have already increased teachers’ salaries based on their qualification level. Right now we are implementing re-training of teachers. There are three levels. If a teacher reaches the first level, the salary is doubled. If a teacher sucessfully passes the second level exam, the salary raise will be 50 percent. 30 percent increase is provided for the third level teachers. This is a very serious increase. Other education initiatives we announced as part of the President’s address. Every year the President initiates supports measures for the social sector and especially for teachers,” Zhumagulov said. Earlier, giving a speech at the meeting of Nur Otan party, Nursultan Nazarbayev said that the salaries of Kazakhstan teachers would grow 30 to 100 percent depending on qualification. On July 1, 2011 Kazakhstan teachers received a salary increase of 30 percent.
