Toyota Motor Kazakhstan gives a 6-month delay for unofficial importers of Toyota and Lexus original spare parts to prevent their deficiency, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the company's press-service. According to the decree of the chairman of the Customs Commission of Kazakhstan Finance Ministry, Toyota and Lexus trade marks were included in the customs registry of intellectual property in February 2012. "Toyota Motor Corporation, having carefully studied and analyzed the situation with the import of spare parts and accessories to Kazakhstan, has come to the conclusion that it would be impossible to avoid the inconvenience for the clients who preordered the spare parts marked with Toyota and Lexus trademarks from unofficial importers before February 8, 2012 (date of trademarks registration in the customs registrar of intellectual property). "In relation to the above and only for elimination of inconvenience for the clients, Toyota Motor Kazakhstan, on behalf of Toyota Motor Corporation, states that Toyota Motor Corporation will not pursue any claims against unofficial importers of the original spare parts and accessories marked with Toyota and Lexus trademarks within the period from March 1 to September 1, 2012," the message states. Upon completion of this period Toyota Motor Corporation is going to resume measures to protect its rights for the trademarks by applying to Kazakhstan customs authorities. "These statement does not apply to counterfeit goods. The customs protection measures will constantly be taken towards such goods," the press-service says. Mercedes-Benz, Subaru, Hyundai and BMW expressed their intention to get into the registrar as well.
