In March, 2013, the 20th Ski Orienteering World Championship will be held in Kazakhstan’s city of Ridder that is situated in East Kazakhstan oblast, Vesti.kz reports. Kazakhstan will be hosting a competition of such a high level for the first time. Athletes from more than 20 countries, including Russia, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Japan, UK, U.S. and Italy, have already applied for participation in the Kazakhstan World Championship. Finland has applied will the biggest number of athletes – 22 skiers. The opening ceremony of the Championship will be held in Ridder on March 4, 2013.
