Tengrinews.kz - Ruslan Abdikalikov, Chairman of the Committee for Information Security of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry, has named the simplest and most crucial method for safeguarding personal data.
Speaking at a briefing at the Central Communications Service, Abdikalikov shared tips on how Kazakhstanis can protect themselves from fraud.
"We would like to once again remind our citizens of the most basic things: never share the code sent from 1414 with anyone. If you look closely at this message, you’ll see that it is already written in three languages—Russian, Kazakh, and English—that you should not share the code with anyone. This is truly the simplest and most important way to protect yourself," he stated.
Additionally, the committee chairman emphasized the importance of regularly updating software on computers, personal devices, and mobile phones.
"It is also not advisable to respond to suspicious messages or click on links sent by strangers. One of the most common types of fraud involves messages like: 'Our girl is participating in a contest, please vote—every vote matters.' In most cases, there is no contest or girl behind these messages, only scammers using phishing sites to steal personal data—or worse, banking details. As a result, you could lose your money," Abdikalikov warned.
Previously, the National Bank of Kazakhstan issued a warning about fraudulent messages being sent under the guise of bank employees.
