Daniel Juncadella, Astana race driver, might sign a contract with Mercedes. In this case he will represent Kazakhstan in Formula-1 races, driving Mercedes cars, Tengrinews.kz reports, referring to the Astana Racing Team press-service. Mercedes and Ferrari teams became interested in Daniel Juncadella after he showed excellent time testing the teams’ cars. Astana's Daniel Juncadella prefers to sign up with Mercedes. The signing might take place as soon as before the end of the year 2012 and then Juncadella will become a testing driver of one of the best Formula-1 teams from the beginning of 2013. “It was not an easy decision for me. Both these proposals were unique and promising in their own way. At present participation in Mercedes team as a testing driver is more effective for me in terms of career development, because my top goal is to become the main Formula-1 driver and to represent Astana team decently at the world sport arena,” the Astana racer said. If the signing takes place Astana sports national brand’s symbols will be depicted on Juncadella’s gear, and the Kazakhstan team's logo will be placed on all Mercedes cars. Besides Formula-1 races Juncadella might take part in DTM Championship as a main driver of Mercedes plant where he will represent Astana TAK Group as well. Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (German Touring Car Masters) is a Silhouette racing car series based in Germany, but also with rounds elsewhere in Europe. Kazakhstan rally raid racer and Dakar-2012 prize-winner Arthur Ardavichus said that it would be a great luck for the Astana driver to become part of Mercedes team. “Mercedes is a top team among the most prestigious Formula-1 teams”. “The main goal of the partnership between Astana TAK Group and Mercedes team is to promote Kazakhstan sport and motivate young Kazakhstan athletes to achieve better results. It is impossible to join Mercedes team on commercial terms. It is a great success for Daniel that might give him an excellent chance to progress even further by sowing decent driving skills. Daniel’s main task then would be to improve his sporting skills, gain experience and get ready to become the main Formula-1 pillot in three years,” Ardavichus said.
