British boxer Matthew Macklin believes that Gennady Golovkin of Kazakhstan is getting too much attention. "I don't think based on who he's beaten that he should really be getting this sort of hype," Macklin said in his interview to HBO, Vesti.kz reports. It is well known that Golovkin known and Trippe G is feared by professional boxers for the excessively high KO rate. With an 88% knockout percentage rate, Golovkin holds the greatest KO ratio in middleweight championship history and is number one among all the active current and former champions, and number three in the overall championship history. He won 23 out of his 26 professional bouts with KOs. Besides, Golovkin is unbeaten. He has never lost a fight in his professional career. Since Matthew Macklin cannot say the same about himself he views this as a disadvantage as well: "Being undefeated is a great thing because it means you get hyped up a lot more, but it's also a disadvantage," he told HBO. He also has something to say about Golovkin being feared by other boxers: "His last few opponents vs. my last few opponents, there's no comparison. He's used to always getting his own way, being the bully in there. I don't think he's going to be able to bully me. So we'll see how he reacts when that happens. This isn't the amateurs anymore, this is the professionals. He's never been 12 rounds. So we'll see how he is when it's about Round 10, and he's a bit tired, and he's been shook a couple of times himself. We'll see what goes through his head then." It remains to be seen whether Macklin is going to be still there for the Round 10 to see Golovkin tired. Golovkin's KO rate makes this sound like a very small chance. Golovkin sound much less hostile then Macklin when speaking about his opponent: "Matthew is the best opponent for me now. I respect him, because he's a good boxer. I think the fight will be very difficult for both of us," Golovkin said. "I have this great record, I have the power and I have the speed. But this is a very serious fight for me. This fight is a big step. Not a baby step, a big one," he says about the coming fight. The fight between Golovkin and Macklin will take place tomorrow on June 29, 2013 at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket city, Connecticut, USA and will become the main boxing event of the night on HBO Boxing After Dark. The world title bout between the Kazakhstan and the British boxers will be aired live by Kazakhstan channel on June 30, at 9:00 a.m. Astana time.
