Four major projects in alternative energy sector are going to be implemented in Zhambyl oblast, Tengrinews reports citing oblast Akim (Governor) Kanat Bozumbayev as saying at the briefing in the Central Communications Service last week.
“We plan to establish four projects in hydro, wind and solar energy together with private companies. Their aggregate capacity will be 165 MW and the total investments will make $370 million. Implementation of all these projects will bring the share of the renewable energy sources in the total generating capacity of our oblast to 40 percent,” Kanat Bozumbayev said.
He added that five renewable energy projects with an aggregate capacity of 15 MW had been implemented in the oblast over the previous three years. The total investments made $20 million.
“All that was made by private companies with state support. The oblast is a pioneer in the use of renewable energy sources in Kazakhstan. It is successfully implementing the President’s instructions on development of green economy,” he said.
