International Bandy Federation gave a high praise to Almaty World Championship organization level, Tengrinews.kz reports, referring to the press-office of city's Akimat (municipal authorities). “Sportsmen, guests and media representatives who participated in the Championship would remember hospitality of Almaty residents, warmth and attention of volunteers and sports facilities employees for a long time. We are sure that bandy holiday became a remarkable event in political and sport life of Kazakhstan and it will be a good motivation for further development of bandy in Asia,” Boris Skrynnik, president of the Federation said. The 32nd World Bandy Championship was held in Almaty on January 29 – February 5. The record number of countries - 14 - took part in the event. The Sweden team became the leader by winning over the Russian team with a score of 5:4 in the final of the tournament. Kazakhstan played against Sweden in the semi-final match. Sweden won as result of the after-match penalty, however, Swedish halfback who played during the match wasn't registered at the technical request beforehand. After the match Kazakhstan filed a protest demanding disqualification for the Swedish team, but International Federation rejected the protest. Kazakhstan won over the Finnish team with a score of 10:5 in the match for the third place.
