Kazakhstan advocates the initiative to declare a decade of cultures rapprochement, Tengrinews.kz special correspondent reports from New York. “It is very important for us to get through Kazakhstan’s culture of peace initiative and see a cultures rapprochement decade declared at the 67th session of the UN General Assembly. This initiative has already been discussed and the UNESCO has made its decision. But, as we know, the initiative cannot be globally acknowledged without the approval of the UN General Assembly, that’s why we need the General Assembly’s resolution,” permanent representative of Kazakhstan in UN Byrganym Aitimova said. According to her, the idea to declare a decade of culture rapprochement has been made especially relevant by the religious conflicts in North Africa, Middle East and other regions. “All people and all countries will form their own programs and will implement them using dialog platforms and the Internet to observe this decade,” Aitimova said. Another important Kazakhstan’s goal at the 67th session of the UN General Assembly is to promote the project of the Global Declaration of Nuclear-Free World. “We have already initiated a discussion of the Global Declaration of Nuclear-Free World. This is a long process, but it has already started and we will try to promote this project at the 67th session,” she said. By Renat Tashkinbayev
