The functions of the abolished committee will be taken over by the Department of Tourism at Kazakhstan’s newly revised Ministry of Investment and Development.

"To modernize and improve the efficiency of the public administration system and to optimize the government machine, the Tourism Industry Committee of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and New Technologies will be abolished and reorganized into the Department of Tourism of at the Ministry of Investment and Development of Kazakhstan. The relevant draft resolution of the Government has been sent for endorsement to the competent budget planning authority," Marat Igaliyev said.

During the reorganization period, the committee will continue its work and proceed with carrying out all the plans for development of Kazakhstan's tourism industry.

On August 6, Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev reorganized the government to enhance the system of public administration and create an efficient and compact government: only 12 ministries and about 30 committees remained out of 17 ministries, 9 agencies, 54 committees, 272 departments.
