For the firs time, a kidney transplantation has been conducted in Kyzylorda, Tengrinews reports citing the press office of the Kyzylorda Oblast Akimat (Municipal Authorities).
A Kyzyorda native Yerdaulet Bozugulov was transplanted his sister Zhanagul’s kidney. The surgery was successful and the patient is currently recovering. Akim of Kyzylorgda Oblast Kyrymbek Kusherbayev visited Bozugulov at the hospital. Another 17 y.o. resident of Shieliy district will have a transplantation in November.
Kyzylorda Oblast is the fourth region in Kazakhstan where kidney transplantation is now conducted. Surgeons from the Almaty-based Syzganov’s National Science Center are training their Kyzylorda colleagues as a part of the state-run Kyzylorda Healthcare Roadmap project.
Kyzylorda surgeons, according to the director of the Center Zhetkergen Arzykulov, began their training in April. The Akimat helped purchase the required equipment for the hospital. All in all, there are around 100 patients in the region suffering from various kidney diseases. A third of them require kidney transplantation.
The first transplantation was conducted with the assistance of Almaty surgeons. Kyzylorda doctors will conduct the next surgery on their own.
