The person who died in the mosque fire in Astana has been identified. A painter of Askar construction company Maralbek Baurzhan, born in 1989, was the victim of the accident, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Astana Emergency Situations Department. “Inquest group of Astana Emergency Situations Department is currently working with the experts of the laboratory of the Fire-Fighting and Rescue Services of Karaganda Emergency Situations Department on identifying the causes of the fire,” press-service of Kazakhstan Emergency Situations Ministry stated. The message on fire in the new mosque Khazret Sultan was received by emergency services at 3:15 p.m. on January 15. According to the Emergency Situations Ministry, wooden scaffolding below the dome have caught fire. The fire of 800 square meters was under control by 5:49 p.m. Fire-fighting involved 180 firemen and 41 vehicles. The body was found at 5:15 p.m. 13 people were rescued from the building during the fire.
