A new lama was born in Almaty zoo, Tengrinews reports, referring to the Zoo's development department. The new cria is a male. He was born on January 7 and named Batyr ('strong warrior' in Kazakh). He is the first male lama born in Almaty Zoo over the past few years. Only females were born before, for some reason. He now weighs about 12 kilograms and is fed with baby food four times during and three times at night. Once he is older he will be fed with cow milk and vegetation.
