Thick smog covers Atyrau

Atyrau got covered with a thick smog on April 10, Ak Zhaiyk writes. This worst smog covered the road to Astrakhan. The smog even obscured 5-story buildings of Nursaya region in the western part of the city from sight. According to Akim (Mayor) of Yerkingalinsk village Yergali Tapanov, bulrush along the Caspian shore has been on fire for the last three days. “Fire-fighters cannot reach it there,” the official said. According to Pricom.kz, the bulrush caught fire on shore of the Ural River in the area of Yerkin-kala village close to Atyrau. According to the magazine, fire-fighters are trying to reach the accident site. They have to identify the exact area on fire and decide if a helicopter has to be involved in the fire fighting operation. Emergency Situations experts recommend the residents to not leave their houses and close the windows to avoid breathing in the harmful smoke.
