Sixth stage of Dakar cancelled

Organizers of the world’s most prestigious rally Dakar decided to cancel the sixth stage of the race, the tournament’s official website writes. It is currently snowing over the Andes Cordillera. This made the route too swampy and vague. According to the organizers, there creates a high risk for the participants’ health. So, the trucks will be convoyed to the next stage’s start via a safe route. Meanwhile, one of the leaders of the race, KAMAZ-master crew headed by Eduard Nikolayev was withdrawn from the race by the organizers’ decision. At the fourth stage Nikolayev got into an accident smashing into one of the offroaders. The participants of the incident stopped, made repairs and got to the finish later. Organizers saw a violation of the rules in the actions of the Russian team. Kazakhstan team Astana is driving a rented KamAz truck. The crew led by Arthur Ardavichus is ranked the 5th in general classification.
