Construction of the Botanic Garden will start in Astana on April 21, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Astana Akim (Mayor) Imangali Tasmagambetov, who reported to Kazakhstan President on the progress in construction of this facility. “The Botanic Garden is located to the south of the administrative center at the territory adjacent to the eastern part of the Olympics Center. The detailed concept has been prepared and the works are currently in process on development of the project’s feasibility study. Following your instructions, the works on the Botanic Garden will start on April 21 on the traditional city clean-up Saturday. We are planning to arrange a mass trees planting on that day,” Imangali Tasmagambetov at the meeting on further development of Astana on April 11. According to the Akim, 40 thousand trees and 72 thousand bushes were planted in Astana in 2011. This year the authorities are planning to have another 40 thousand trees and over 8 million flowers planted. In the course of the meeting Astana Akim informed the President of the progress of reconstruction of the city's Central Park. “The project is implemented in three stages. This way the park doesn't have to be closed for reconstruction. The works were performed on the main alley used to hold cultural events and in the beach leisure area in 2011. The second stage will include the works on construction of the area for active family leisure, the central fountain and sports and health area. The third stage will include reconstruction of the existing water-park and the pond,” Imangali Tasmagambetov said. The Akim also noted that a multi-entertainment complex with different attractions will be constructed at the cost of private investments. By Assel Satayeva
