Car accident at Almaty-Yekaterinburg highway in Karaganda oblast claimed 16 lives of Kyrgyzstan citizens, Tengrinews.kz reports citing press-service of Karaganda oblast Interior Department. “On May 8 at around 01:00 a.m. 30-year-old driver of SsangYong, a citizen of Kyrgyzstan, was moving towards Karaganda 30 km from Akzhal village, lost control over the car, drove onto the contraflow lane and smashed into KamAZ (heavy truck) driven by 35-year-old citizen of Almaty,” the department’s message states. The driver of the minibus and his 15 passengers died at the accident scene. The truck driver and another 2 passengers of the minibus were taken to the hospital of Balkhash town. “The victims are being identified. The criminal case has been initiated and the investigation is in process,” the Interior Department adds.
