Shumenov heavier than Santiago before the WBA title fight

Beibut Shumenov, 27, a boxer from Kazakhstan who holds WBA and IBA champion titles turned out to be 900 grams heavier that the contested of the titles American Danny Santiago, 38, BoxingScene reports. The weight of the Kazakh boxer at the weighting ceremony before the title fight in Las Vegas made 79.38 kg. Santiago’s weight made 78.47 kg. The last time Shumenov defended the title was on July 23, 2010 in Lemoore, CA, against Viacheslav Uzelkov from Ukraine. The light heavyweight title fight lasted all 12 rounds; then the victory was unanimously given to the Kazakh.
