The national team of Kazakhstan got the 3rd place by medal count at the World Sambo Championship held in St. Petersburg on November 21-25, Vesti.kz reports. Arma Ospanov (-80kg) and Pavel Lysenko (-100kg), who represented Kazakhstan in combat sambo, brought two gold medals to the national team. Ospanov prevailed over Russian wrestler Ruslan Gasankhanov and Lysenko KOed Stanislav Kolbasov from Belarus in their final fights. President of Russia Vladimir Putin attended the championship and watched Pavel Lysenko win. Later the Russian President personally handed the award to the Kazakhstan athlete. Rulsan Aushev won one silver medal for Kazakhstan. Kazbek Supurgaliyev, Dildash Kuryshbayev, Asset Aldeshov, Sergei Afanasenko and Almaz Suleimanov won five bronze medals. Russia is in the 1st place by medal count with 15 gold medals, 4 silver and 8 bronze. And the 2nd place went to Ukrainian sambo wrestlers, who won a total of 13 medals.
