Tatyana Potemkina from Temirtau (Karaganda region) has set a new world record at the Kettlebell World Championship in New York, and has become a three-time world champion,Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Radio Azattyk. Sportsmen from twelve countries participated at the World Championship that took place in September this year. 13 sportsmen represented Kazakhstan, including two sportswomen. Kazakhstan team came second with three gold and ten silver medals. Adilbek Ashimov from Astana, Yevgeniy Goncharov from Aktobe and Tatyana Potemkina from Temirtau became world champions. “I have beaten my own record and set a new world record in my 68 kilos weight league. I have lifted a twenty-four kilos kettlebell 140 times in ten minutes time. Svetlana Krechik, an American sportswoman of Ukrainian origin was my main opponent at the Championship. I have heard about her a lot. She has lifted her twenty-four kilos kettlebell 99 times and came second,” the triple world champion said. Andrey Bobryshev, the sportswoman's manager and coach said that there are about 15 kettlebell sportswomen of international level at the present moment in Kazakhstan. But not all the sportswomen are able to come to the World Championship, because it is too expensive. According to the coach, Kazakhstani authorities don't subsidize this sport. “Tatyana is considered being a founder of twenty-four kilos kettlebell shows. Russia's national team coach proposed Tatyana to move to Russia and represent Russia at the competitions. But she rejected this proposal. However, the motherland doesn't value her. Regional Akimat (administration) takes no notice of the triple world champion,” Bobryshev said.
