Bolat Mankenov, general director of Kazakhstan’s Astana Arlans boxing club, is dissatisfied with the judging of the World Series of Boxing match between Astana Arlans and British Lionhearts that ended with the score of 4:1 in favor of the British team on February 8, Vesti.kz reports. “The judging was extremely unbalanced. It was particularly unfair during the match between Andrew Selby and Merbolat Toitov. I am satisfied with our debutant. He was fighting well and followed the instructions of his coaches. He missed no effective blows. So, it is still unclear what have caused the final result,” Mankenov said. The Kazakhstan team decided not to file a protest. It was due to the fact that Astana Arlans boxers had fulfilled their tournament goal of advancing into the play-off. That’s why the match against British Lionhearts was of no big importance to them. “The match gave us an opportunity to check our reserve boxers. It was our chance to rate our young fighters and to let them feel the ring. There are two matches left before the end of the regular season. One of them will be held in Italy. We are going to send our young fighters to this match as well,” Astana Arlans general director said.
