Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev met his China’s counterpart Xi Jinping within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Dushanbe, a Tengrinews.kz journalist reports, citing the President’s website.

“At the talks the two leaders dwelt on the major vectors of trade and economic, investments, energy, transport, and culture cooperation. They also broached issues of interaction within international organizations. Besides, they exchanged opinions on acute issues on the international agenda”, the statement reads.

“The two nations have been actively cooperating in the energy realm. As of now about 20% of oil produced in Kazakhstan is extracted by China’s companies. The Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline is successfully operating”, President Nazarbayev said.

In his turn, Xi Jinping highlighted the positive dynamics of the Kazakh-Chinese bilateral relations. “Back in May you paid a successful state visit to China to attend the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-building Measures in Asia (CICMA) summit among other things. Agreements between the two nations reached within international organizations are effectively being brought to life. I hope we will further the successful interaction. We are ready to take all possible efforts to cooperate to the benefit of the two nation’s people”, he said.

Kazakhstan’s President congratulated Xi Jinping on the forthcoming 65th anniversary of the foundation of the People's Republic of China and wished prosperity to people of China.
