Kazakhstan and Great Britain have signed a strategic partnership agreement, Tengrinews.kz reports. This will be the first strategic agreement between the countries, Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev said before the signing during the first visit of British Prime-Minister David Cameron to Kazakhstan. Great Britain is the third country by direct investments to Kazakhstan after the U.S. and the Netherlands. Its investments stand at around $12 billion. The commodities turnover between the countries has reached $.23 billion and may grow even further this year, Nazarbayev said. There are 600 companies with British capital working in Kazakhstan. “We are thankful that Great Britain has included Kazakhstan into the list of 14 countries for activation of trade,” Nazarbayev said and expressed confidence that the talks with Cameron would become a new landmark in the relations between the countries. Cameron replied that he was the first acting Prime-Minister of Great Britain to visit Kazakhstan. He reminded that Astana had ratified the agreement on the air transit with London and it was planned to ratify a similar agreement on the ground transit. By Renat Tashkinbayev
