Germany’s Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt, BKA) is sending a communications officer to Kazakhstan for interaction with the country’s competent authorities and Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Center for combating the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors (CARICC), Interfax-Kazakhstan reports. The officer will be sent to Kazakhstan for a full-time job, CARICC told the agency on December 21. According to the speaker, Germany is currently looking into the BKA representative’s location in Astana or Almaty. CARICC member-countries include Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Austria, Afghanistan, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Canada, China, Pakistan, Romania, the U.S., Turkey, Ukraine, Finland, France, Interpol and SECI Center have the status of CARICC’s observers.
