135 foreign journalists and 789 international observers accredited for elections in Kazakhstan

On January 15 the elections in Kazakhstan will be covered by 135 journalists and monitored by 789 observers, Tengrinews.kz reports citing official representative of Kazakhstan Foreign Ministry Altai Abibullayev. 135 foreign journalists have been registered for the Majilis and Maslikhat elections of January 15, 2012. According to the speaker, representatives of the media from Austria, Belarus, Great Britain, Hungary, Germany, Italy, India, Spain, China, Qatar, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, UAE, Tajikistan, Philippines, France, Czech Republic and Sweden will arrive in Kazakhstan. The U.S., Russia and Ukraine have a special interest for Kazakhstan elections. “The majority of journalists will be in Astana, for sure. But there is also an interest for Almaty, Karaganda, Aktau and Zhanaozen,” Abibullayev said. 789 international observers have been accredited for the elections. 56 polling stations will operate outside Kazakhstan. They will be available in all Kazakhstan embassies, 5 general consulates and 3 consular organizations.
