Nazarbayev wants to increase oil production

Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev talked about increasing oil production volumes, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the President’s press-service. “I checked on the results of your work and I am content. Oil production went up to 20 million tons. This is a real and liquid asset of Kazakhstan and we have to work to increase the production volumes further,” Nazarbayev said at the meeting with Chevron management. He also said that oil fields should to take part in the industrialization program. “The company works to ensure high local content: 86 percent of the employees are Kazakhstan citizens. Thanks to you orders, local companies create new jobs. Kazakhstan is currently implementing an important program on industrial-innovative development. We think that our three major oil fields (Tengiz, Kashagan and Karachaganak) have to actively participate in this program by facilitating creation of new companies for servicing their fields,” the President noted. Nazarbayev tagged cooperation with Chevron successful and noted that this company came to Kazakhstan in the time very difficult for the country. By Renat Tashkinbayev
