Tengrinews.kz - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has provided his assessment of the current government's performance.

During a briefing, the President was asked: "The current government of Kazakhstan has been in place for seven months. There are speculations that changes may occur following the referendum. Are you satisfied with the government's work?"

"The government, in my opinion, is working actively and diligently, fulfilling the tasks I have set as Head of State. We are engaged in very intense work, which may not always be visible to the media. I receive regular updates and stay informed on all developments. Naturally, I point out the shortcomings in the work of both the ministers and the government as a whole. However, seven months is a short period of time. The members of the government still have to prove themselves. The main task is to find sources of economic growth for our country," said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

To recap, in February of this year, the government led by Alikhan Smailov resigned, and Olzhas Bektenov was appointed as the new Prime Minister.

On October 6, Kazakhstan is holding a referendum on the construction of a nuclear power plant. Polling stations opened at 7:00 AM across the country, and voting will continue until 8:00 PM.

Earlier, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev shared his opinion on who should take charge of building the nuclear power plant if the results of the referendum show public support for the project.
