Kazakhstan vocal band called Art-Vocal won the second prize in Solevoci international contest in Varese, Italy, Express K writes. The band became a prize-winner in the “vocal bands” category. 20 bands from different countries took part in the contest. Now the band is planning to arrange a concert and record a CD. According to the agency, this is not the first successful performance of the band at international competitions. In 2008 Art-Vocal won golden medal of the 5th World Choir Games Graz 2008 in Austria in “A capella Vocal Bands” category. Art-Vocal was founded in October 2000. It consists of five people: Irina Barabash (soprano), Vinera Rakhisheva (soprano), Oksana Pak (alt), Malik Kairgaliyev (tenor), Baurzhan Mussin (basso). “Majority of the band's music is a capella. Repertoire consists of both classic and modern jazz, classical miniatures, music made by Kazakhstan composers in modern orchestration,” the band's description states.
